Adventure on 11 April 2014 - Pasar Baru and Gedung Kesenian Jakarta

This Friday, I have an opportunity to watch Spectacle Zero performance by Teater Tanah Airku, a famous children theater in Indonesia. I went to Gedung Kesenian Jakarta (GKJ) by TransJakarta, but it was too early. I thought Jakarta street would be really crowded in the Friday afternoon so I rushly leave my boarding house at 5 pm. But surprisingly, my journey is really smooth. The show was started at 8 pm meanwhile I got there by 6 pm. Hence, I took time to explore Pasar Baru, a renowned market for its cheap shoes in Jakarta near GKJ. I couldn't believe that this is the first time I went to those iconic places. *Sigh*. Pasar Baru is the oldest market in Jakarta. It was build in 1820. Here are some pictures of Pasar Baru.

I bought a nice jeans here. It's quite cheap

The theater performance is interesting. I got teary up a bit when they arranged blocks that ultimately stated the motto of education in Indonesia.
ing ngarsa sung tulada (teachers should become models and give examples in front of their students)
ing madya mangun karsa (teachers should fosters initiatives among their students)
tut wuri handayani (teachers should support their students from behind)
It really reminds me that our childrens is precious and it is our duty to educate them. Unfortunately it is prohibited to take pictures of the Spectacle Zero show. But here are some pictures inside GKJ:

The theater performance that I attended is part of a children art's festival

Now I'm longing to see performance by Teater Koma and Teater Mandiri. Actually there's a theater performance in Komunitas Salihara but I'm a little bit afraid to go there alone because it's a little bit far, both from my boarding house and from public transportation. Anyone want to accompany me to go there sometimes?

Adventure on 9 April 2014 - Galeri Indonesia Kaya

It's not a new place. I always pass by this place when I go to Blitzmegaplex Grand Indonesia. But I always hesitate to explore it before because Galeri Indonesia Kaya is owned by cigarettes company. I heard many bleak stories from my friend whom dealing with them, hence I'm not fond of big cigarettes companies. True that they sponsored many event, offer scholarships, even spare "little" from their "enormous" profit to education and culture preservation. But our health costs and harm to our citizens from cigarettes smoking is even bigger than the advantage that big cigarettes companies offer to us. Ups.. I guess I'm blabbering too much, it's out of topic ^^.

I'm interested in history and culture. For the sake of being unbiased, I finally free myself to explore it a few days ago. It's a really nice place with interesting activities where we can see Indonesia traditional culture. When we arrive, some digital images of people in traditional clothes will welcome you with greetings in traditional languages. There are also many games in this galeri. It's quite good. Here are some pictures:

Overall it's pretty lovely. Unfortunately it's not spacious. You should come here at least once, if you're in Jakarta.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier (Review)

Due to my tight schedule (and by tight, I mean my time for my family, to make dressess and attended my bestfriend's wedding), I'm a little bit late to watch this movie. Luckily, today is the election day for parlemen in Indonesia. Hence we got this lovely holiday and I could watched Captain America: The Winter Soldier. So what's my verdict about this movie? Read more and find out below!

Maybe among few movies that I've watched this year, this is the best yet. It's witty, funny in unpredictable moments, action-packed with top class performances from its actors. In short, almost everything you want from a blockbuster movie. Contrary to most women that seems to love muscular man, I'm not a fan of overly muscular men like Chris Evans. But in this movie he looks so serious, dangerous and yet innocent while he seems lost in his way (well, in this movie he deals with "to trust or not to trust, that is the question"). I think I'm in love with him now. Ha ha ha. And Scarlet Johansson is superb in this. She's one of my favorite actress and Black Widow maybe is her role that I like best.

If I have complaints about this movie, I think one of them is the indifferent and forgetable music score. Other complaint is, I think this movie is half-hearted in a sense where it wants to be a political thriller while still hold its own as superheroes movie. In my opinion, somehow it makes the thriller things are not so thrilling and the story is not surprise or amaze me. Maybe it's because I've watched so many Hollywood movie, but I think the average audience would still see the plot as clear as day.

Regardless of those complaints, I still recommend you to watch this movie. Particularly for those who love Marvel movies and disappointed in Thor: The Dark World like me. That's my opinion. Have you watched this movie? Comment below and let me know what you think!
