Music

I love many kinds of music and had went through various change in musical preference. From indie to mainstream. From classical music to jazz. Music is very important for me.

Books

A little bit different from other girls, rather than spend my money to buy clothes, shoes, or cosmetics, I usually choose to buy books instead.

Pharmacy

Pharmacists are healthcare professionals who practice in pharmacy, the field of health sciences focusing on safe and effective medication use. For me the science of pharmacy is fascinating and interesting.

Movie

I'm a movie enthusiast. Particularly for Fantasy, Adventure, Animation and Science-Fiction Movie. It's a nice way to escape the reality for a while.

The Hobbit: The Battle of Five Armies (Review)

I'm really looking forward for this movie as it is the last movie from The Hobbit trilogy. If you don't know, I'm a huge fan of Martin Freeman and can't wait to see his acting again. So, without too many chit chat, let me tell you my opinion!

The Great
Martin Freeman as Bilbo and Richard Armitage as Thorin are the most precious things from this movie. They gave the most stirring performance in this film that worth your ticket money. All my favorite scenes from this movie are always about their beautiful friendship and interaction.

The Good
As expected, the battle scenes looks extravagant with lots of violence.
Lee Pace as Thranduil.
Ryan Gage as Alfrid creates many laughters.
All cast give good performance for their respective roles but they were given more stunt than lines so let's just say that they're underused.

The Bad
As you can see from my Desolation of Smaug review, I hate the added love story between Thauriel and Kili. It's so fake, unconvincing and empty, I cringe everytime I saw their scenes on the screen.

My verdict:
The Hobbit: The Battle of Five Armies is not magical, but it's still an entertaining movie. Some of the scenes might pissed off fan of the original book (for example, me ^^), but overall I still recommend you to watch it.

Big Hero 6 (Review)

Lately, Disney's animation never fall shorts of my expectation. After Wreck-it Ralph and Frozen, here comes Big Hero 6, a production of Disney with characters from Marvel. I never think that there's a movie that could challenge How to Train Your Dragon 2 as my favorite animation movie this year. This movie is so cute and I always have a soft spot for story about sibling love and friendship.

Big Hero 6 is a funny and heartwarming story about Hiro Hamada, a genius, and Baymax, an inflatable medical robot, which a little bit resemble relationship between Hiccup and Toothless. When a devastating event befalls the city of San Fransokyo and catapults Hiro into the midst of danger, he turns to Baymax and his close friends adrenaline junkie Go Go Tomago, neatnik Wasabi, chemistry whiz Honey Lemon and fanboy Fred. Determined to uncover the mystery, Hiro transforms his friends into a band of high-tech heroes called "Big Hero 6."

Overall, this movie is good. Don't expect complicated story because it's straight and simple, I could predict the ending ^^. I honestly think it will be more interesting if the big bad guy is none other than Hiro's brother. But well, if it's like that, this story will become dark, complicated, and maybe become a not child-friendly story. He he he. Don't worry, the relationship between Hiro and Baymax is so heartwarming, so I will say you got your money's worth for seeing this movie. I recommend it for anybody, especially animation lover.

Rurouni Kenshin: The Legend Ends (Review)

Yeah. I know, I know. I'm a lazy piece of nothing. I shut down myself from write anything in the past 2 months. I'm sorry. I'm busy hiding in my shell to defend myself from harm inflicted to me from outside world. There's no one missing me out there, right? *I'm act like there's someone following my blog posts and miss my updates where in fact, no one does ^^ *start to play "Missing" from Evanescence. Ha ha ha. Anyway, I hate being lazy. It made me gain weight >.<.

I've watched Rurouni Kenshin: The Legend Ends about 2 months ago but only managed to post this today. without many chit chat, here are what I think about this movie!

Great
Of course the fighting scenes!!!

Good
Masaharu Fukuyama as Kenshin's teacher, Hiko Seijuro.

Bad
I don't get carried away by the drama here.

Honestly, I'm a little bit disappointed. Maybe it's because my expectation is too high as you could read on my previous post about Kyoto Inferno. Many people said this movie is epic. Well, it's fighting scenes are indeed epic but the emotion is lacking. It's still a good movie though. It's a must for people who love Rurouni Kenshin and have watched the previous movies.

Penyiapan campuran pewarna rambut.

Rurouni Kenshin: Kyoto Inferno (Review)

I watched this movie 1 month ago but only manage to post this today as I have some issues with my life. As I ever said in my previous post, Takeru Satou is my favorite Japanese actor and Rurouni Kenshin is one of my favorite Japanese manga. So, I might really biased in my opinion. You have been warned^^. Ke ke ke.

Rurouni Kenshin: Kyoto Inferno is the 2nd movie from Rurouni Kenshin live action trilogy. I love the first movie. But I can't help to think that non-reader or non-viewer of the original manga and anime don't have equal footing with the original fans. Being the 2nd part movie of a trilogy is problematic because it neither had the advantage of starting the story nor finish it. So it generally become the weakest in the trilogy. But it's not the case with this movie. You can watch it even if you haven't watch the first one or have no knowledge about this story before, because there's a plenty of flashback scenes. But you certainly have to watch the 3rd movie, The Legend Ends, because Kyoto Inferno's ending is rather awkward.

Okay. First, let's talk about what I like from this movie.

Great
As expected, the fighting scenes are great and exhilarating. Gosh...

Good

Takeru Satou. No need to explain why.

Comic relief from Sanosuke Sagara. Everytime Sano on the screen, everyone in the theater are laughing. And his bickering with Megumi. I love that it is hinted in this movie that Megumi indeed have some feelings for Sano.

Seta Soujiro. Ryunosuke Kamiki is perfect for the role.

Saito Hajime. One of my favorite characters in the manga that shine in this movie.

Hiko Seijuro. I nearly scream when they showed Masaharu Fukuyama on screen. I'm looking forward his acting as Kenshin's teacher here.

Bad

The way they abruptly introduce Aoshi Shinomori.

Maybe I'm a cold person, but the scene where that one boy crying because Shishio killed his parent and brother just not move my heart or make me sad. But maybe it's just because the acting and the set up. I remember crying hard while watching the opening scene of Guardians of the Galaxy (where child Peter Quill weep because his mother died).

Overall, this movie is superb. I love it so much that I watch it twice a day. He he he. Japanese fans said that Rurouni Kenshin: The Legend End is 100 x better than this movie. Wow!! I'm really excited to see the last part of this trilogy!!! It will be screened in Blitzmegaplex, starting from 22 October 2014. I can hardly wait!

Guardians of the Galaxy (Review)

I've already said it numerous times before. But in case you never read my previous blog posts, let me state it again. Guardians of the Galaxy is one of the movies that I desperately want to see this year. I've watched all the trailers, monitored the news, searched information, and became infatuated with its Director, James Gunn. >///<. Ha ha ha. Now that I'm finally watched the movie, did it live up to my high expectation? Read my review below!

Overall, I really like this movie. The music is great. The visual is great. The acting is good. The story is simple but interaction between the characters make it interesting. I love the dynamic when Star-Lord, Rocket, Groot, and Gamora first meet and try to catch each other. I also love the third act. Really hilarious. He he he. But honestly, I think James Gunn could be more creative in creating this Marvel Cosmic universe. Particularly the design of the inhabitants. I also had issue with the pace of this movie. It's too fast, I end up want this movie to be longer. It's a little bit overstuffed for a 2 hour movie so I wish there were more backstory. In the end, I recommend you to watch it in the cinema. Have you seen it? Comment below and let me know what you think!

Ocean Dream Samudra

Yesterday, I went to Ocean Dream Samudra, one of the attractions in Taman Impian Jaya Ancol. My original plan was to go to Ocean Ecopark. But the weather condition shows there's a chance of rainfall. Ocean Ecopark is an open park while the shows in Ocean Dream Samudra is held in closed auditorium. That's why I decide me and my sister better go to this place.

There are 6 kind of performances in Ocean Dream Samudra, as follow:

  1. Variety Animal Show
  2. Sea Lion Show
  3. Dolphin Show
  4. 4D Cinema
  5. Underwater Theater
  6. Water Stuntman Show (Scorpion Pirates)
Here are some pictures that I took yesterday:

Variety Animal Show by Makaw bird

Variety Animal Show by Sun Bear

Sea Lion Show

Place for Dolphin Show. Right after I took this picture, my smartphone have low battery hence I couldn't take picture anymore
Overall, I couldn't enjoy the shows because I was busy thinking about the animals in these shows. Whether their welfare are guaranteed, whether they are starved before the show, whether they are tired for performing several times a day. I really hope that these are not the case because the shows in Ocean Dream Samudra itself promoted environment awareness and love for those animals.

Gondola Ancol

This afternoon, me and my sister went to Taman Impian Jaya Ancol. It's so crowded!! Silly me, it's a holiday season so there are many traffic jams inside Ancol. Just to get inside we must give a lot of effort, including riding a super crowded Wara Wiri bus in dangerous position. Pyuhhh... We've already went to Dunia Fantasi and Sea World so we want to try other attractions. This time, we choose Gondola first then went to Ocean Dream Samudra later. My sister is a little bit afraid of height so she's a little scare when we ride the Gondola. Here are some pictures from our journey today:

Wara Wiri Bus route. It's a free Bus to explore Taman Impian Jaya Ancol..

The queue

The queue

The view from above. It's so crowded today

The view from above
Overall, I think the ticket price (Rp. 45.000) is too expensive for this experience. The view from above is not really pretty and the journey is too short, just around 10-15 minutes. But that's just my opinion.

Today's Rant: Stop Making Awful Movie Get Billions of Dollars

Okay. So they said that Transformer 4 have the biggest weekend opening in USA with more than 100 millions dollars. It's mind blowing considering how bad critics and fans dissed this movie. Don't get me wrong. I quite like the Transformers 1. Bumblebee is my favorite transformer and I really want it to be my future car. But I really hate Transformers 2. What's the point of making that movie actually? Thanks God I didn't watch it in the cinema because my friend said it's terrible. Even just lend it from my friend made me regret why I spent 2 hours of my life to watch that movie. In my humble opinion, Transformers 3 is so so. It's not as bad as the 2nd movie because the actions are cooler, but the story is like a "sinetron"or a soap opera. So, I decide to wait for my friend's opinion or review on the internet before I decide whether to watch the 4th movie. And after consideration, I decided I would pass it.

Back to my amusement of how Transformers 4 did really well in box-office despite the criticism. My mind is kind of blown that people queuing to see this movie. The same people who criticize the last transformer movie were there at the opening night in the front of the line. I observe that many people bitch and moan about all types of stuff, yet they are always in the center watching those movies that they dissed every time. For people who hate stuff so much, they spend a lot of time on articles and information concerning it.

Sometimes I think this so-called fan of the original franchise are just screaming idiots who think their opinion will matter to Hollywood executives. You want to know why those executives never listen to their opinion? Because they know that fans already sold by the materials in that movie hence always come to theater to watch it, even if you hate it. Why is this a surprise? Holywood's purpose is not to create entertainment for consumers, but to create money. End of it. Therefore, if you don't like the look or feel of a movie based on your favorite franchise, please spend your money elsewhere. Stop making it get billions of dollars.

Marvel's Movies Ranking (According to Me)

Guardians of the Galaxy is one of the movies that I desperately want to see this year. This movie has already create a commotion because they had announced the sequel even though the first movie is not released yet. Wow, they really have big confidence for this movie. It will be release on 1 August in USA, but unfortunately people in Indonesia will have to wait patiently because its release date here is 20 August. That's suck! >.<. But because this decision was made to gave priority to Indonesian movie, I think I just have to bear with it.

As I wait for Guardians of the Galaxy, I decide to spend my time ranking all the Marvel movies that I've watched. I never watch The Incredible Hulk, so that movie must be taken out from this list. Here we go!

8. Iron Man 2

I know why the story in this movie is necessary to the development of The Avengers but honestly I dislike it. I don't like both of the antagonists. That's being said, there are several elements that I like from this movie that I still find it watchable i.e Black Widow character (I love her), Tony and Pepper's first kiss, etc.

7. Thor: The Dark World

I already reviewed it here.

6. Captain America: The First Avenger

For me, this movie is a little bit flat. Especially in the beginning.

5. Thor

Loki is an interesting antagonist and there's a good character development for Thor.

4. Iron Man 3

I already reviewed it here

3. The Avengers

I bet many of you questions me why I put this movie as number 3 and not number 1. Honestly, The Avengers is a movie with a simple story and too many characters that turns out to be a good movie because of its great Director. It could be a disaster in the hand of wrong person. Honestly, I'm not thrilled enough when I watch this movie in the cinema because I don't think it offer anything new. I really like the acting and the dynamic between the protagonists though.

2. Captain America: The Winter Soldier

I already reviewed it here

1. Iron Man

I love Iron Man because it offer something fresh to superhero movie. While other superhero trying desperately to hide their identity, Tony Stark proclaim himself as Iron Man without denial. Ha ha ha. Tony stark itself is a really interesting character and Robert Downey Jr. portrayed him perfectly.

That's my list. Agree? Disagree? Comment below and let me know what you think about it.

Ragunan Zoo (Taman Margasatwa Ragunan)

I went to Ragunan Zoo with my sister just now. This is my third visit but my sister never go to a Zoo before. So I'm gladly accompany her to Ragunan Zoo to see the cute animals. It is cheap and quite a pretty place so it's no wonder that Ragunan Zoo is among the top tourism spot in Jakarta. Here are some pictures that I took there.

Pelican

Sri Lanka Leopard. This animal move with grace

Lion. This animal move with grace and so cute

Sumatra Tiger

Overall, I really enjoy it. My sister enjoy it too. Well, even though it was really exhausted since we have to walk and Ragunan Zoo is really vast. You can hire a bike though. Have you ever go to Ragunan Zoo? What do you think about it?
