Rise of the Guardians

I love animation movie, particularly anime, Pixar and DreamWorks animation. My most favorite animation movie from DreamWorks is How to Train Your Dragon. Although not as good as How to Train Your Dragon, I quite enjoy Madagascar, Shrek, Kung Fu Panda and Megamind too. That's why I was longing to see their next animation since I was a little bit disappointed by Madagascar 3. I eagerly buy Rise of the Guardians movie ticket and hope to be entertained. I was not. I mean, I was partially entertained. And the movie was really not at fault for this. It's because I'm an adult that tried to watched a movie for children.

Jack Frost, Santa, Tooth Fairy, Easter Bunny and Sandman as the guardians
The movie itself is good... for children. And I'm not a child anymore so the stories is a little bit absurd to me. wkwkwk. Not like Wreck-It Ralph, a movie that is relevant for all age, this movie was meant for children. Or if it's for an adult, maybe only adult from European and American countries. I just can't relate myself to the story. The animation is of course really good. Even though I think the story is absurd, I found that Sandyman and Easter Bunny character is interesting. And.. Ehemm. I think I really love Jack Frost. I think he is hot, well, even thought he is the spirit of the winter. >///<.

I guess I'm not the only one that thought Jack Frost is too hot to handle

Jack Frost in Rise of the Guardians
Well, just seeing Jack Frost in this movie was quite made me happy (blushing). I recommended this movie if you want to take your children, nephew, niece, to the movie theater!

Life of Pi

This Christmas holiday, I went to watched a lot of films. Life of Pi is one of it. Lots of people said that this movie that is based from a novel by Yann Martel is impossible-to-film. But against all odd, Ang Lee (one of my favorite directors) could turn it into a fantastic 3D movie. I really really love the cinematography of this movie. It's so beautiful. The movie itself is attractive and thrilling.

Pi and the Bengal Tiger, Richard Parker
The acting is good. I can't believe that this is the first time Suraj Sharma (act as teenager Pi) act in front of camera (even though it is true). Since half of the movies is about Pi try to survive in Pasific Ocean with Richard Parker that could eat him all the time, Suraj Sharma's acting as Pi is a really important matter in this film. The end is left open, just like in Inception. We couldn't really sure that the incredible story told by the adult Pi (played by Irrfan Khan) to the writer (played by Rafe Spall) is true. Overall, this is a must watched movie. Even though I find it not as touching as everyone said *o^. If you haven't watch it yet, go to the nearest movie theater! I recommend to watch it in 3D because this movie is visually stunning.

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey

Lately, I've been catch this "The Hobbit Fever" that made me watched "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" for the third times ( 3D, 3D 48 Frs, and 2D >///<). Wkwkwk. I don't know how come I get into this craziness. Honestly, this movie is not that great. I mean, of course this is a really good movie!! But I never thought this kind of movie could made me watched it for three times!! Or maybe it's just because I love Martin Freeman?

Martin Freeman as Bilbo Baggins
Hmm.. Maybe. Or maybe it's because I miss Gollum and Gandalf. He he he. I'm an avid fans of the Lord of the Rings trilogy, even thought I've read the books after the movies. Not like other girls that usually fall for Legolas (Visually stunning, handsome, cool elf with his bow and arrows. And not forgot to mention his long blonde hair), I always thought Gollum is more interesting (Andy Serkis should get award for his performance as Gollum!). Ah.. And don't forget the fair Elijah Wood (with his big blue eyes >///< and rosy cheek) as Frodo Baggins.

Bilbo among the dwarfs
Back to the Hobbit, I only know Bilbo Baggins from the Lord of the Rings' book and movies. But as soon as I watched the movie for the first time, I kinda love Bilbo's character. I really love Martin Freeman playing it, though because I never read "the Hobbit", I didn't know how close his acting resemble Bilbo Baggins that was described in the book. I kinda love Thorin Oakenshield too. I think all the acting part in this movie is good. The cinematography and soundtracks in this film is good too.

Many people complained about the high frame rate that is used in this film (48 frs). I didn't have any complaint except that this higher frame rate made everything look real, so that the fake one looks more fake. The movie looks good in the ordinary 3D and 2D though. My favorite scene, of course the game of riddle between Bilbo and Gollum. My least favorite scene is when Radagast the Brown covering the escape of the dwarfs, Bilbo and Gandalf from Orcs on Wargs (Is it really neccessary? duh). Although many critics didn't like this film and a few viewers said this movie is boring, I find this movie suit my taste.

So, what do you think about this movie? Good or bad?
